About Jay Johannigman
Dr. Jay Johannigman holds close to four decades of active duty with the United States Armed Forces, where he was a surgeon. During this time, he received several promotions, eventually becoming lieutenant and colonel before switching his affiliation to the United States Army Reserves in 2017.
In addition, Dr. Jay Johannigman spent 25 years with the University of Cincinnati Medical Center as a surgeon. During this time, he received a promotion to director, a role he held for close to two decades. He has held academic positions with several facilities, such as the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, where he is an adjunct professor of surgery.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, with these being spread across his military and civilian work. In 2018 alone, Dr. Jay Johannigman received the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Hometown Hero, the William R. Drucker Trauma Lecture, and the 3rd MRBn Recruiting awards.
In 1983, he graduated from Case Western Reserve University with his medical degree. While there, he was the president of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, as well as an honor student in pharmacology.
